Photography & Failure.

Valley of Fire State Park

Valley of Fire State Park

Be prepared to fail. Be it location, timing, light, planning equipment or just missing the alarm.

This was really brought home to me in the first few days of the trip to the USA. At the last minute, I added a location to my trip. The Valley of Fire State Park, about an hour out of Vegas.

The mistakes I made were as follows: Left Vegas too late, didn’t think about the opening and closing times of the visitor centre, no camping locations left, not enough research into the spot and the best places to shoot from.

Because of this, I only spent a brief afternoon in the park, with the photo above being all that I was really able to capture, as I had to head back and sort out some accommodation.

And this is my lesson for this blog. You will stuff up. Embrace it. Learn from the failure. You will not always get the shot you had in mind, or expected.

From this failure you will learn to be better prepared, check your gear and do your research.

And for every missed opportunity, you will create others.

Happy travels!
